Nil illegitimi carborundum
Tonight, Eddie Meyer uttered the word 'bastard' more times within one episode of PM than I have ever heard it used in several years of listening to Radio 4.

I was playing badminton so didn't hear PM as I usually do. What was the context? I noticed that Chris Addision used a bastard in the comedy slot between 18:30 and 19:00. The bastards are certainly creeping in to early evening broadcasting!

Patrick Mercer's gaffe in the Times
, which was quoted and misquoted several times.
The truly cringeworthy instance was Meyer saying to a Scottish ex-army officer (who had just admitted getting stick for being a Scot), 'So you've been called a Scottish bastard the?'.
It was in context, but they perhaps didn't need to say it
quite
so many times!
